NEFERTARIGALLERY
I have created a multi-metal sculpture, traversed by gears and intentional absences, dedicated to Nefertari: not only a queen, but a complex, stratified presence, deeply human and at the same time eternal. For me, Nefertari is not merely the favorite wife of Ramesses II, but an archetype of balance between power and grace, between the visible and the invisible. A woman capable of inhabiting time with the same lightness with which she traverses eternity in the paintings of her tomb, where even today the color seems to resist dissolution.
The sculpture is born from this tension. The metals, distinct from one another, dialogue like eras: polished and oxidized surfaces tell of the passage of time, transformation, and memory. The gears are not just mechanisms: they are the symbol of a royalty that is not static, but in continuous motion, made of choices, relationships, and subtle balances. And then, the shortcomings. Intentional voids, subtractions that become language. Because what we define as greatness often does not reside in the matter we accumulate, but in the space we leave behind. Nefertari lives there too: in the pauses, in the silences, in the untold parts of history.
This artwork does not intend to represent her in a descriptive way, but to evoke her. It is a portrait that evades form to seek the essence: a structure that holds together strength and fragility, like a queen who was simultaneously a political figure, a woman, and a myth. Looking at it, one perceives a presence that does not impose itself, but reveals itself slowly. As if every gear safeguarded a fragment of life, and every void were an invitation to complete it with one’s gaze, imagination, and respect. Because certain figures do not belong to the past. They continue to exist in the forms we choose to remember them by.
EXPRESSIONIN WORKNEFERTARIENLIGHTENED
The Enlightened are not simply lit sculptures.
They are artworks that remain incomplete without the
presence of the viewer who welcomes them.
Light does not serve to show them: it serves to complete them.
Each sculpture treasures its own light source,
an active heart that makes the form changing, unstable, alive.
The artwork changes with the intensity of the light, with the direction of the spotlights, and with the color chosen by those who experience it.
The sculpted matter is no longer definitive: it becomes a possibility. The artist does not impose a single vision. He invites a dialogue.
In this sense, the Enlightened speak of the deep
relationship between form and consciousness.
Light does not only reveal the artwork: it reveals the gaze of the observer.
Every luminous configuration is a silent conversation
between the artist and the owner of the artwork.
